Projects

Maryland Department of Transportation

LR Control Center

OPS Consulting assisted the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in upgrading the Baltimore Central Light Rail Operations Control Center to support the Central Light Rail Line (CLRL) double track expansion. Prior to starting this effort, the MTA required a Software Requirements Specification (SRS) to be written in accordance with IEEE-STD 830-1998 (IEEE Recommended Practice for Software Requirements Specification). We delivered an SAS, conducted and prepared a Software Requirements Review, and prepared and submitted a Contract Specification Book (RFP) for use by the MTA.

MTA NEXT System

OPS Consulting supported the MTA with System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) documentation and procurement planning support for the NEXT System. The NEXT System is expected to comprise a fully integrated Computer Aided Dispatch and Automated Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) system for the Baltimore bus fleet and ITS applications such as next vehicle arrival signs, public announcement systems, and closed circuit video surveillance systems. Prior to commencement of the procurement effort, the MTA required a suite of Software Development Life Cycle documents (Concept Proposal, Project Management Charter, ITPR, System Boundary Document, Risk Management Plan, Project Management Plan).

MTA ERP Feasibility Study

OPS Consulting assisted the MTA in planning for a future upgrade of its payroll system. As part of the scope for this effort, we conducted a high-level requirements analysis of the MTA payroll system. This included interviews of domain experts, review of existing system documentation, and research at other transportation metropolitan agencies with similar operational systems. The payroll feasibility study addressed six basic issues: current environment, desired future environment, industry best practices and direction of ERP II systems, lessons learned from other agencies which have conducted similar upgrades, and a draft of the first four Software Development Life Cycle documents.

Department of Defense

Software Engineering Center

OPS Consulting provides software engineering development, maintenance and enhancement in support of: Software Re-engineering, Legacy System Database and Unix to NT porting for the Department of Defense. Additionally, we provided software engineering support to include: tool adoption, code quality analysis, and development methodologies. The OPS team works in a highly visible environment, requiring briefings of HPSCI and other senior executives on multiple occasions. In addition, the OPS team analyzed and reported on over 50 Million+ Lines of C/C++/Java code. We work with many different development organizations within the Agency to analyze their code and/or support them with tool/process adoption.

EIDSP Study

A study was commissioned at the request of the Chief of the Office of the Director to provide an integrated business process strategy with requirements for transformation, integration, and support for an Executive Information and Decision Support Process (EIDSP). OPS was selected as the lead team to identify, assess, and document the current EIDSP, and recommend requirements and a strategy for improving all critical factors involved in the process. Upon completion of the study, we presented a critical process plan for managing document and records, implementing corporate decisions, tasking and tracking actions, performing information quality assurance and quality control. The plan also incorporated a process for continuous improvement to the EIDSP and its sub-processes.

The Heffner & Weber Corporation

Systems Management & Adminstration

OPS Consulting was tasked with the management and administration of the Heffner & Weber network and its servers, connections, hardware, and software. This work included the installation and configuration of software and hardware to support and expand the network and the employee workstations, administration of passwords and accounts (both internal and external), and establishment and operation of a help desk function for both network and application support. Further, we provided design and development of database and application projects and designed and presented training on software and network operations to support the company's business operations.

Logicon DPC

Secure e-Commerce Website

OPS Consulting designed, developed and implemented a secure e-commerce website for customers to purchase hardware equipment sold by Logicon DPC. Critical to the success of the project was the creation of PERL parsers written by OPS to convert equipment information (i.e. part number, model number, description, price, etc.) from multiple vendors into a format recognizable by the database for import. Additionally, we wrote specialized JAVASCRIPT to determine who was browsing, and dynamically displayed the information, thus providing a tailored, customer-centric approach capable of satisfying multiple stakeholders.
